WINDBER, Pa. (WJAC) — A senior living and retirement community in Somerset County celebrated a grand reopening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday.
Several upgrades were made to the Winber Woods Senior Living and Rehabilitation Center.
Caring Health Systems came in to revamp the center's operations.
The center features a 27-acre campus with multiple levels of care, including rehabilitation services, long-term nursing and care in advanced nursing areas.
There is also a 32-bed personal care home that enables independent living with 24-hour care.
"This nursing home was providing the area's care, but as the health care industry changed, it's always changing, the entity matched before couldn’t keep up with changes,” says Steven Friedman, chief of operations."
”We were able to come in and modernize operations of the facility to be reflective of how health care is being managed throughout the country today.”
There are several living options, including "the cottages," which offer low monthly costs.
Residents can also participate in monthly luncheons, activities and other sponsored events.
