SPRING MILLS, CENTRE CO, Pa (WJAC) — A Spring Mills man is facing several charges after police say he assaulted a woman and threatened her with a gun.
Joseph Klinger, 32, is accused of assaulting the woman on Thursday and then threatening to shoot her, according to a criminal complaint.
Klinger faces nearly a dozen charges related to the incident, including simple assault, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, making terroristic threats and recklessly endangering another person, police say.
Police say that just before 3 p.m. Thursday, officers were dispatched to the parking lot of Homan's General Store in Spring Mills for reports of a man pointing a gun at a woman.
Officers on scene say they located two women inside the store, one of whom told police that Klinger had pistol-whipped her in the neck/chest area.
According to the complaint, officers observed marks on the woman's chest and arm, as well as blood on her shirt.
The woman also told police that Klinger had grabbed her and then pushed and punched her, the complaint adds, and that he then pulled out a gun and threatened to shoot her.
Police say the woman told them that the incidents all occurred at an apartment located along Old Fort Road in Potter Township.
She then told police that she and the other woman left the apartment and ran to Homan's store, the complaint says.
Police say that when the women attempted to leave the store, Klinger was outside in the parking lot yelling and screaming and that store employees were told to call police.
Officers say they observed Klinger to be under the influence and that he admitted to drinking alcohol and taking prescription medications.
When asked about the gun, Klinger told police that he hid it under his porch, according to the complaint.
Police located the gun and then transported Klinger to Mount Nittany Medical Center, where he refused a blood draw, the complaint adds.
Klinger is being housed at the Centre County Prison on $50,000 bail, according to court documents, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 25.
