
MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. (WWMT) — Police in Michigan rescued more than 20 canines from an alleged dog fighting ring on Friday.
After investigating four residences in Muskegon Heights and one in Norton Shores, officers from the Muskegon Heights Police Department rescued 22 dogs and recovered one that was deceased, authorities said in a news release.
Police arrested four people, three of which are charged with dog fighting and one had a warrant for their arrest, according to MHPD.
Authorities said they are expecting to arrest more people involved in the ring based on the evidence found during the investigation.
MHPD was assisted by the Muskegon County Sheriff's Office, Norton Shores Police Department, Michigan State Police troopers and detectives, Pound Buddies and animal rescue non-profit Bark Nation.
