Elite universities received millions in donations from 'State of Palestine,' watchdog says

WASHINGTON (TND) — Several elite universities received donations from a foundation in the “State of Palestine" between 2017 and 2023, amounting to tens of millions of dollars, according to new findings from watchdog organization OpenTheBooks. The schools which received donations include Brown University, Harvard University and Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), according to OpenTheBooks. Brown in 2020 allegedly received $643,000 from a foundation based in the “State of Palestine” to establish a “Professorship in Palestinian Studies within Middle East Studies.

Punxsutawney man helps break world's longest pizza record

PUNXSUTAWNEY - Scott Anthony, owner of Punxsy Pizza, took part in the "World's Longest Pizza" event Saturday at Auto Club Speedway in California. Anthony was the only pizza chef from Pennsylvania to help create the 1.3 mile-long pizza that broke the Guinness World Record. The finished pizza stretched 6,333 feet, used 8,000 pounds of dough, 6,000 pounds of sauce and 5,600 pounds of cheese. The previous record of 6,082 feet was made in Naples, Italy in 2016.

Second teen charged in foiled Westmont shooting plot sentenced to jail time, probation

Bedford County Historical Society hosts traveling WWII exhibit

(WJAC) -- The Heinz History Center's traveling World War II exhibit is on display inside the Bedford County Historical Society, the furthest east the exhibit will go. “We’ve had quite a few from the Heinz History Center,” said Gillian Leach, the historical society’s executive director. “Right now, they are offering their World War II, 'We Can Do It' exhibit. PSU athletics reports 'record' spending & revenue

University Park, PA (WJAC) — A newly released financial report from the Penn State Athletic Department shows "record numbers" for both revenue and spending for Nittany Lion athletics. The new report is for the previous fiscal year- July 2022 through June of 2023. Penn State reports total revenue for athletics just over $202 million. Football generated over half that amount, at almost $110 million in revenue. But Penn State is also reporting that athletic department expenditures are almost the same as revenue, at just over $202 million.
