Everett Borough fire damages apartment building, displaces residents

A devastating fire burned through an apartment building on the 20th block of 3rd Street in Everett Borough Friday evening. Multiple crews were on site, but no injuries were reported. Everett Fire Company’s fire chief, Thomas J. Stone told us in a statement that fire companies from Everett, Bedford, Breezewood, and Roaring Spring were on scene as well as an ambulance from Raystown. The apartment building itself consists of 6 units which sustained smoke and water damage from the fire.

Police investigate attempted robbery at Exxon Mobil

EAST PROVIDENCE TOWNSHIP – State police in Bedford County are investigating an attempted robbery at the Exxon Mobil in East Providence Township. Police said the incident happened last Thursday at 11:45 p.m. Officers said the man entered the store with a black hunting knife demanding cash. When the cashier refused and called the police, the suspect ran away from the store. Surveillance video caught a black SUV fleeing a nearby property moments later.

1 firefighter dead, others injured after crews respond to Loudoun County house explosion

STERLING, Va. (7News) — A firefighter is dead and several others are injured after several crews were called to the scene of a house explosion in Sterling, Virginia Friday night. According to James Williams, Assistant Chief of Operations for Loudoun County Fire, initial crews responded to a home located at 347 Silver Ridge Drive around 7:40 p.m. Once firefighters were inside the residence, the home exploded. Officials have identified the fallen firefighter as 45-year-old Trevor Brown.

Ohio man killed, woman injured in head-on crash in Indiana County

INDIANA COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — State police in Indiana County say an Ohio man was killed late Wednesday night in a two-vehicle, head-on crash along Route 422 in Armstrong Township. Authorities say troopers were dispatched to the crash scene around 11:45 p.m. Police say the driver of a Toyota Matrix, identified as 56-year-old John Kieger, of Shaker Heights, Ohio, was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators say Kieger was killed when the driver of a Jeep Wrangler, a 17-year-old Shelocta woman, crossed into the opposite lane of travel and struck his vehicle head-on.
