There have been reports nationwide of a surge in cases this winter that are highly contagious. Experts are urging pet owners to vaccinate their dogs and practice avoidance.
The CDC states that Canine influenza, or dog flu, is a contagious respiratory disease in dogs caused by specific Type A influenza viruses. Currently there are two different influenza A dog flu viruses: one is an H3N8 virus and the other is an H3N2 virus.
Ebensburg Borough discusses the banning of confederate flags from events
Johnstown, Pa. (WJAC) — Ebensburg Borough Council members hosted a town hall meeting Wednesday evening, at the Young People's Community Center, to discuss the idea of banning of confederate flags from public events.
Members from the group "Inclusive Ebensburg" and other residents attended the town hall, wearing black in solidarity, saying they want to ban the flag.
Ultimatley, Council President Tusing said the Borough Council does not have the authority to ban the confederate flag, because it would be an infringement upon First Amendment rights.
New York City and Dublin portal reopens after briefly shutting down due to lewd acts
NEW YORK (TND) — "The Portal" installation in New York City is back! The public technological art sculpture linking Dublin to NYC reopened on Sunday after it was temporarily shut down due to "inappropriate behavior," according to organizers.
Spectators are able to witness, again, a live stream connection between the two exhibits, but only during a set number of hours.
Organizers posted on Flatiron NoMad Partnership's Facebook page that the sculpture will operate daily from 6 a.
Over 90 dogs rescued from distressing conditions by Bedford County Humane Society
An investigation into a Bedford County home on New Year's Eve has led to the Bedford County Humane Society being extremely overcrowded.
More than 90 dogs were brought to the shelter on Sunday night and volunteers say they were here until one in the morning making the dogs as comfortable as they could be.
New Year’s quickly became busy for the workers at the shelter. The shelter manager Kathy Ramsey says that they can comfortably fit about forty-five dogs and that after last night they have about one-hundred and fifteen.
Glenside man charged after Penn State police investigate sexual assault
CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — Police say a Glenside man is facing charges for sexually assaulting a Penn State student.
Joshua Robinson faces felony sexual assault and aggravated indecent assault without consent.
Penn State University police say they were called to the hospital in February to speak to the victim.
They say the victim explained that she met Robinson at an off-campus party and when they went back to his room, he violently assaulted her.
Johnstown man Brian Giles to head to trial in case of wife's death
Johnstown, PA (WJAC) — The case against Johnstown man Brian Giles, who was charged in May in the death of his wife Nancy, will head to trial. Giles appeared in Cambria County court Wednesday afternoon for the first time following his arrest in mid-May, when police charged him with homicide in the disappearance and death of his wife, following a three-and-a-half-year investigation.
Investigators says Brian's wife Nancy was first reported missing in October of 2018.
