(WJAC) — Last minute “touch-ups” are underway at the John Montgomery Ward Field at Governor’s Park in Bellefonte, in anticipation of the high school varsity baseball home opener on Tuesday. After several months, the project's nearing completion. Wednesday saw the Bellefonte varsity baseball team practice on the new field for the first time. The project also bringing along new dugouts, a new press box, new fencing along the first and third base sidelines, and a new drainage system.

Man sentenced for 2011 motel murder

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A man was sentenced Monday morning to life without parole in a murder case. Jaime Osuna previously pleaded guilty to six charges to avoid the death penalty. He admitted to killing 37-year-old Yvette Pena in November 2011. Pena had been found at the El Morocco Motel on Golden State Avenue. Investigators said she had been gagged, and she was found with "stabbing instruments" protruding from her back.

Altoona man captured in Louisiana on child sex crime warrant now jailed in Blair County

BLAIR COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — An Altoona man who was arrested last month in Louisiana on child sex-crime charges was arraigned Wednesday in Blair County. Albert “AJ” Kuklo III was arrested on April 11th by the US Marshals in the New Orleans area. Police say Kuklo is accused of sexually assaulting multiple young girls, over several years, in Altoona and Claysburg. Court records show that Kuklo is charged with more than 120 offenses, including several felonies for child rape and sexual assault.

Chimney Rocks vandals caught, police say

HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa (WJAC) — Hollidaysburg Borough Police say they have apprehended those responsible for vandalizing Chimney Rocks Park, according to an update on the police department's Facebook. SCI Huntingdon inmate back in custody after stealing vehicle in escape attempt

HUNTINGDON, Pa. - An inmate is back in custody after he walked off of work detail Friday, police said. According to police, the inmate was on work detail on state Route 26 near the Walmart when he walked off around 12:30 p.m. Department of Corrections identified the inmate as 26-year-old John Adam Bertolette. Police said Bertolette stole a vehicle from a nearby housing development and tried to escape. Troopers began a search and spotted, then stopped the vehicle just south of Marklesburg Borough.
