Investigation ongoing into now capped Cambria Co. gas leak; regulatory changes expected
Cambria Co., PA (WJAC) — Investigations continue surrounding the Cambria County gas leak at the Equitrans Midstream Rager Mountain storage facility in Jackson Township.
The gas leak has since been capped, after two weeks of spewing methane into the surrounding environment, but concerns about the potential impacts remain.
The leak first started on November 6th, and even though it's since been plugged, officials say they are just starting to see both the environmental and regulatory impacts.
SCI Rockview inmate found dead in prison cell days after arriving at facility
ROCKVIEW, Pa. (WJAC) — Officials at the State Correctional Institute at Rockview said an inmate was found dead in his cell Sunday afternoon.
According to a news release, 40-year-old David Fry was found unresponsive by prison staff just before 4:45 p.m.
Officials said staff members immediately performed CPR until an ambulance arrived. They were unable to revive him.
According to the release, Fry was convicted of second-degree murder in Erie County in 1998 and was sentenced to life in prison.
Steelers finalizing deal to retain DC Teryl Austin
Pittsburgh (WJAC) — According to multiple reports, the Pittsburgh Steelers are reportedly finalizing a deal to retain defensive coordinator Teryl Austin.
Austin's new contract would reportedly be for two years, according to ESPN NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler.
Austin was hired by the Steelers in 2019 after previously serving as the DC for the Detroit Lions and the Cincinnati Bengals.
During his tenure as the Steelers defensive coordinator, Pittsburgh has had the 6th ranked scoring defense in the NFL.
Woman faces 3rd arrest after embezzling, stealing more than $30K since 2016
LAS CRUCES, N.M. (KFOX) — A New Mexico woman with a history of embezzling money, forgery and fraud dating back to 2016was arrested again Friday on two more charges of larceny and fraud totaling $2,946.61.
Michelle Casas, 42, was arrested Friday by Las Cruces Police Department officers at a probation and parole office, according to court documents, and is facing charges of larceny and fraud dating back to 2021, when she worked as a secretary with Las Cruces-based C.
