NORTHERN CAMBRIA, Pa (WJAC) — There will be a nonpartisan voter registration event at Contres Greer Social Hall in Northern Cambria Saturday.
Organizers say volunteers will be available to assist people in registering to vote and to help those wanting to change parties.
They say they will also help with applications for absentee and main-in ballots.
The event runs from noon to 4 p.m.
Monday, October 19 is the last day to register to vote for the upcoming election.
Pirates trade veteran 1B Carlos Santana to Milwaukee
Pittsburgh (WJAC) — The Pittsburgh Pirates have reportedly traded first baseman Carlos Santana to the Milwaukee Brewers.
According to Pirates' beat writer Jason Mackey, Pittsburgh will receive shortstop prospect Jhonny Severino in return.
Santana, a 37-year-old veteran, appeared in 94 games this season for Pittsburgh while recording a .235 batting average with 12 homeruns and 53 RBIs.
He signed a 1-year deal with Pittsburgh back in November.
Santana is playing in his 14th major league season, having previously played for Cleveland, Philadelphia, Kansas City and Seattle.

Blair Co. businesses, Logan Twp FD help package, deliver boxes of food to those in need
BLAIR CO, Pa (WJAC) — Blair County businesses and the Logan Township Volunteer Fire service provided Thanksgiving to residents in need on Saturday.
Volunteers say the free boxes of food will help more than 100 people in the community.
The firefighters said it's important to help those in need, not just in this season, but year-round as we continue to navigate the COVID landscape.
This is the 12th year the fire service has helped package and deliver boxes of food.
Fire crews battle small roof fire on North Allegheny Street in Bellefonte
CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — A small fire broke out on the roof of a building on 100 N. Allegheny Street in Bellefonte.
Crews at the scene said power had to be shut off on the entire block.
No injuries were reported.
Undine Fire Company, Logan Fire Company, Pleasant Gap Fire Company, and Citizens Hose Company of Milesburg responded to the fire.

June 1 begins a likely very busy Atlantic hurricane season
WASHINGTON (7News) — June 1 is the first day of meteorological summer and it's also the first day of the Atlantic hurricane season. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predicts a very busy season this year, which runs through Nov. 30.
NOAA forecasters anticipate an 85 percent chance for an above-normal Atlantic hurricane season in 2024. There is a 10 percent chance the season will be near-normal and a 5 percent chance the season will be below-normal.
Man charged with randomly punching Steve Buscemi held on $50,000 bail
NEW YORK (TND) — Clifton Williams, the 50-year-old man charged with assaulting actor Steve Buscemi, is currently being held in a New York City jail on bond, prosecutors said Sunday. Williams, who is experiencing homelessness, was identified by authorities as the alleged attacker Wednesday before being arrested by police on Friday.
The accused man was arraigned on Saturday and the judge set bail at $50,000. It was unclear if the defendant had a lawyer who could speak for him.
Newsom announces budget cuts to tackle California's $27.6 billion deficit
FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) — California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced in a news conference Friday his plans to cut state funding to stop the state's growing deficit.
This is a part of his revised 2024-2025 budget plan.
He said the approach they are taking this time around is a little different than they have in years past. They are not looking at the budget year alone, but the next two years to tackle and control deficits, reserves and surpluses.

Dozens of Yale graduates stage pro-Palestine walkout, demand school divest from Israel
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (TND) — Dozens of Yale University graduates staged an anti-Israel walkout during the school’s commencement proceedings Monday, according to videos circulating social media.
A student in graduation regalia pounded on a drum while others waived Palestinian flags in one clip shared by BreakThroughNews. A student with a megaphone led students in chanting “disclose, divest, we will not stop, we will not rest.”
Other videos showed students whose hands were painted red carrying banners and cheering.
