Trooper shot while conducting traffic stop

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa (WJAC) — State police say a trooper was shot early Saturday morning while conducting a traffic stop in Chambersburg, Franklin County. According to a release, troopers initiated a traffic stop, around 2 a.m. Saturday, along the 1400 block of Lincoln Way E in Guilford Township for a driver suspected of driving under the influence. The release states that after troopers made contact with the driver, identified as 20-year-old Robert William Ransom, an altercation occurred while the field sobriety test was being administered.

Defense dominates as Steelers defeat the Browns 38-7, improve to 5-0

Pittsburgh, Pa (WJAC) — The Steelers' defense dominated Sunday as Pittsburgh cruised to a 38-7 victory over the Cleveland Browns, improving their record to 5-0. Pittsburgh recorded four total sacks in the game, including two by linebacker Bud Dupree, and intercepted Browns' QB Baker Mayfield twice. Steelers' safety Minkah Fitzpatrick scored the team's first touchdown of the game with a 33-yard pick-six in the first quarter. Offensively, RB James Conner rushed for 101 yards, on 20 carries, and scored a touchdown in the second quarter, according to the box score.

Ebensburg's old stone jail sold, will become 'multi-use' hub instead of being demolished

CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — The historic old stone jail in Ebensburg has been sold, officials announced Monday. The Cambria County Commissioners said in a release that the historic structure has been acquired by DSherwoodD Enterprises. They said the ownership was transferred from Cambria County and the Redevelopment Authority of Cambria County to DSherwoodD Enterprises Jan. 31. "The Redevelopment Authority of Cambria County has been working with Mr. [David] Davis on this project since the fall of 2019.

Four injured, including boy, 8, in crash on I-99 that killed Cherry Tree man

UPDATE | Bedford County, PA (WJAC) — State police in Bedford County have released new details about the cause of Monday's fatal crash on Interstate 99 in East Saint Clair Township. Troopers say the crash claimed the life of 38-year-old Kevin Kutzler Jr., of Cherry Tree, and also sent four others to the hospital, including Kutzler's 8-year-old passenger. Investigators say the crash occurred around 5:20 a.m. near the 4.7 northbound mile marker, according to thecrash report.

Hollidaysburg woman arrested for selling drugs to undercover officer

A 54-year-old Hollidaysburg woman has been charged after she allegedly sold drugs to an undercover police officer. According to a probable-cause affidavit, Jacqueline Barnett, Old Route 22, first sold $800 worth of methamphetamine and heroin to the officer on March 18 in Alleghany Township. According to the affidavit, Barnett sold 17.5 grams of meth to the officer on April 21 and nearly three ounces of meth on May 2. After the May 2 buy at Barnett’s residence, state police arrested her.

Local couple reflects on disappearance of their dog 'Milo'

Cambria County, PA — Missing pets and animal cases on the rise in our region. This according to multiple residents, including people searching for a dog named Milo, in Cambria county. Chad and Paula Albert of Westmont, say Milo is a timid adopted shelter dog. They tell me Milo may have grown longer fur, as time passes without people seeing him. They say he was hit by a car on April 26th, while running from them at the intersection of Goucher street, and the extension of Luzerne street intersection, in Elim.

Prosecutors charge teens in Costco parking lot robbery turned murder

TUKWILA, Wash. (KOMO) — Prosecutors have charged two men for the murder of a 67-year-old woman who was killed during an attempted robbery in theparking lot of a Costco in January. According to court filings, Ilyiss Mohamud Abdi, 18, of Burien, and Salman Haji, 19, of Des Moines, face charges of murder in the first degree, robbery in the first degree, and attempted robbery in the first degree. Charging documents filed in King County Superior Court allege Abdi was driving a stolen Porsche SUV through the parking lot of a Costco inTukwila, Washington on January 26 with Haji in the passenger seat when the pair spotted the victim, Yuam Ming, and her sister loading groceries into their car.

Jury finds mother, boyfriend guilty of leaving disabled daughter to die in hot car

COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) — A South Carolina mother and her boyfriend were found guilty on Friday of leaving her disabled daughter to die in a hot car. In closing statements for the state, Solicitor Duffie Stone said the two tortured Rita Pangalangan's 13-year-old daughter Cristina by leaving her to die in Pangalangan's car for five hours and 41 minutes. Pangalangan was sentenced to 37 years for murder and 20 years for great bodily injury.

Local trolley museum to host Santa's Trolley Rides event

HUNTINGDON COUNTY, Pa. — Starting Saturday, the Rockhill Trolley Museum will be hosting their annual Santa’s Trolley Rides, from 10 am to 3 pm. Visitors will board one of three trolleys and kids will get to meet Santa.
