'Scared to go to class'
WASHINGTON (TND) — George Washington University students are demanding Washington officials intervene as anti-Israel campus protests continue.
As protests enter a sixth day at George Washington University, students told The National Desk (TND) they want to see the makeshift tent city at their campus promptly removed.
GWU student Ari Patinkin, a Jewish economics major, said the local government has failed to address an escalating problem.
Mayor Bowser, you have effectively failed to protect students both foreign and domestic within your own territory,” Patinkin said.

Law to require rear-facing seats for young kids takes effect
HARRISBURG - Pennsylvania motorists will have to make sure car seats face backward for all children until they're 2 years old under a new state law that goes into effect this week.
The measure that becomes law Friday directs police to issue warnings for the first year, after which violations will cost $125 in fines, costs and fees.
Pennsylvania is the fourth state to enact the rear-facing child seat regulations for the youngest of children, after California, New Jersey and Oklahoma.
Punxsutawney School Board decides on consolidation plan
PUNXSUTAWNEY - The Punxsutawney Area School Board decided on which consolidation plan to move forward with Wednesday night.
The plan includes closing Bell Township, Jenks Hill, Longview, Mapleview and Parkview elementary schools.
West End Elementary would be used as an administrative building.
Seventh-grade students will move to the high school, with the middle school consisting of grades kindergarten through sixth.
The board will vote on the plan at its next meeting June 12.
Retired Conemaugh Hospital employee honored with parade
Storm Nagle retired Friday from Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center after 40 years at the hospital.
Nagle, a Belmont native, was surprised by family and EMS members from multiple counties in our area with an EMS parade.
Nagle spent the last 25 years as the Pre-Hospital Operations Manager and was in charge of the hospital's helicopter program.

AASD officials confirm another COVID-19 case at Penn Lincoln Elementary
ALTOONA, Pa. (WJAC) — According to Altoona Area School District officials, another student at the Penn Lincoln Elementary School has tested positive for COVID-19.
In a letter penned to parents/guardians, Superintendent Dr. Charles Prijatelj said the district was notified by a parent on at the end of the school day on Friday, Oct. 2. Prijatelj said the Pennsylvania Department of Health was contacted immediately.

Man shot by Philly officer after stolen car chase, police vehicle rammed
THORNDALE, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say a man was shot and wounded by a suburban Philadelphia police officer after ramming a police vehicle during a chase and threatening to shoot officers, although he turned out to be unarmed.
The Chester County district attorney’s office said police were told of a stolen vehicle in a convenience store parking lot in Downingtown shortly before 2 a.m. Wednesday. Prosecutors said the person who had been driving it stole another car from the lot and fled into a residential neighborhood.
Somerset County Commissioners, Treasurer file lawsuits against each other
