Business owners at the Johnstown Galleria say they are glad to be back after 6 years. This on top of the brand-new stores being opened each month.

Wednesday, September 13th marks the opening of one of the newest shops that used to be inside the mall years ago. I asked store manager, Charlene Collins, how she feels about the mall's owner, Leo Karruli, reaching out to them in June hoping to bring Gardner's candies back.

“Great! We had a few regulars already this morning. They were walking by the last couple of days, and we’d let them know that this morning would be our soft opening. They came in and got their treat for the day. We do gift wrapping so both of them were gift wraps.” says Collins.

Some other things you can find in their store are peanut butter, meltaways, pretzels, creams, chocolate covered nuts, and even life sized stuffed animals.

Five other stores are also setting up. Some of them are already open. This includes a pizzeria, bargain store, and hair salon.

Karruli says the mall being near capacity will take some time. He says the progress for projects like the parking lots are not fast, but steady.

“I’m working on the parking spaces. I’ll also make them aligned and everything. So, I’m working on everything. Like I say, little by little, everything can be done.” says Karruli.

Karruli says he is also addressing some work with the roller rink. Its owner announced that the ‘Glow Roller’ would have to close, due to a dwindling of customers. But Karruli says he will keep it open even if its owner leaves.

The roller rink remains operational with its original owner, Jacob Moore.

Gardner's candies managers say their grand opening will be on September 23rd.
