
An Altoona man is facing multiple felony charges after being the subject of a firearm theft investigation in December.
The Altoona Police Department announced in a Facebook post the arrest of Michael Davis III, 22, who stole multiple firearms in Altoona and surrounding areas, two of them confirmed to have been stolen from inside of vehicles.
Police said a search warrant was obtained for Davis's cell phone which revealed multiple photos of Davis posing with the stolen firearms.
The police are asking anyone who recognizes the firearms in the photos as ones stolen from them to contact them through Facebook or by contacting Det. Heuston at 814-949-2524 or eheuston@altoonapa.gov.
Online court dockets show that Davis is facing one felony charge of theft by unlawful taking, one felony charge of receiving stolen property, one felony charge of firearm ownership-duty of other persons, one felony charge of criminal attempt of firearm ownership-duty of other persons, one felony charge of criminal use of communication facility and one misdemeanor charge of possessing a prohibited firearm.
Court dockets also show that Davis is currently being held at the Blair County Prison with a preliminary hearing scheduled for May 22.
